A community group trying to build awareness for affordable housing is looking for new data.
The South Shore Housing Action Coalition wants to conduct a needs assessment.
Group member Nancy Green says they have gathered some data already but its from the 2006 census.
She says new data will help them understand the needs of the community.
The group has recieved $20,000 from Housing Nova Scotia towards the initiative.
They are also hoping to acquire funding from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
It will take about $50,000 to complete the work.
Local municipalities have provided letters of support to help the group get funding to conduct the assessment.
