The province is going to add 130 new pre-primary classes this fall.
The announcement was made this morning.
In our region, classes will be located in 12 schools in each of the Tri-County Regional and South Shore School boards.
Education Minister Zach Churchill says the classes will create spaces for about 2600 4-year-olds across the province.
“We’ve had incredible feedback from the first round of the pre-primary program and we are very excited to give more families the opportunity to have free, universal, pre-primary, play-based programming.”
This fall, the CSAP will deliver the provincial Pre-primary Program through its Grandir en francais program.
Churchill says the program will be expanded each year until September 2020, when it will be available to all four-year-olds.
