A social media message to raise awareness of Nova Scotia’s ‘Move Over’ law has been recognized.
RCMP in Nova Scotia won the ConnectedCOPS award for social media campaign management at a ceremony Monday in Long Beach, California.
The award is given to an agency which has met its goals through a social media campaign to address a significant problem or educational issue.
The music video, ‘Cop Light Bling’, discusses the ‘Move Over’ law through funny visuals and lyrics sung by RCMP Constable Mark Skinner.
The law makes it an offence to drive faster than 60 km/h or the posted speed limit when passing a stopped emergency vehicle with its lights flashing.
It also requires motorists to change lanes if it is safe.
The video has more than 600,000 views on Youtube.
