Suspended Bridgewater Police Chief will continue to be paid by the town.
Bridgewater’s Police Commission met last night to discuss John Collyer’s suspension.
Commission chair Pat Cappello issued a statement.
“There were no new recommendations forthcoming from that in-camera discussion. As this is a personnel matter, on behalf of the board of police commissioners, we will not be commenting further at this time.”
Cappello wouldn’t comment on how long the suspension will last or when the commission will revisit the issue.
Bridgewater Mayor David Mitchell says there’s been no change in status and this continues to be a personnel matter.
Collyer was originally suspended for 60 days after being charged with sexual assault and exploitation of a 17-year-old girl.
He is expected to enter a plea when he appears in Bridgewater Court on July 27.
