Ever wanted to sail on the BMO Bluenose?
It won’t go that far, but Lunenburg has developed a policy around naming rights for town-owned properties.
Mayor Rachel Bailey says the town has been asked to partner with businesses in the past.
She says this doesn’t mean you are going to start seeing billboard size signs on town buildings.
“There are certain sacred places and things that don’t belong to anyone and we don’t want to suggest otherwise.”
Bailey says the policy also deals with commemorative naming and sponsorships.
“Fundraising for things like our academy which is town property. But, perhaps there might be rooms that are given names as part of a donor recognition program and that sort of thing.”
Bailey says all requests and designs would have to be approved through council before any signage went up.
