The high winds accompanying today's winter storm have Department of Transportation crews on alert.
Storm surge warnings are in place for Shelburne and Queens Counties.
Don Houston says with the high tides tonight combined with very strong winds, could pose a dilemma.
He says right now there's no advisories for Yarmouth County.
"We'll be monitoring it. Right now all the advisories are for Shelburne, Queens but if the wind was to change a little bit it could definitely affect Yarmouth as well."
Houston says crews were out earlier this morning on preliminary salt runs.
He says they're now in plow mode.
TIR tweeted earlier when the snow first started.
