Sidney Crosby's Stanley Cup celebrations now have a South Shore connection.
The NHL superstar was in town with the championship trophy as part of Natal Day celebrations.
Falling on Crosby's 30 birthday, his friends wanted to do something special, so they reached out to Ironworks Distillery.
Lynn MacKay says it started with a visit in June and a request for a Texas Mickey.
"Well, first of all, it was a little lesson in, what the heck is a Texas Mickey? Because neither Pierre, nor I knew. Fortunately we work with Cindy Sangster who - clever woman that she is, knows."
MacKay says once they learned what a Texas Mickey was, they set about making it happen.
"Our trademark bottle comes in that size, 3,000ml, which amounts to four of our standard 750ml. So the short answer was, yes, the bottle is available and holy cow, isn't this just too exciting? Let's do it."
A special label featuring three Stanley Cups and a box decked out in Ironworks and Pittsburgh Penguins logos was designed.
MacKay said they had to wait to talk about it all until Crosby received the bottle of Bluenose rum as a gift on Monday.
