It's time to find new use for your kids old hockey gear.
The United Way of Lunenburg County is hosting a used equipment exchange.
Until August 20, any used hockey equipment can be dropped off at the centre court of Bridgewater Mall or at the LCLC.
Donations will be brought to the LCLC on August 21st for South Shore Minor Hockey Association's registration.
The United Way's Michael Graves wants to give the equipment new life.
"What we're trying to do is just repurpose it and get it back out in the community where it's going to do some good. Because it certainly isn't doing any good sitting in someone's basement or someone's garage or someone's closet."
Graves knows hockey can be expensive.
"That really takes a bite out of the family budget. So, if we can help by giving them good quality, used equipment and it enables their child to continuously participate in a sport such as hockey, then we've accomplished what we set out to do."
Graves hopes by promoting active living in kids it will form healthy habits for life.
He says donations have been slow to this point, but trusts Lunenburg County will rally before the deadline to help get gear in to the hands of those who need it.
