They’ll be no brown bagging lunch at Bluenose Academy today.
That’s because this is the day each year when students are treated to a Christmas dinner.
Vice-Principal Raymond Aucoin says school staff volunteer their time to make the dinner, while the school picks up the costs.
“It’s just something we feel is important to share in that culture or tradition.”
Aucoin says staff didn’t want to assume every student would have a Christmas dinner at home.
“We always felt that at this time of year, we can’t assume that everybody is going to get a turkey dinner. So we thought, why don’t we put one on for the kids.”
Aucoin says parents also volunteer their time to help serve the dinner at lunchtime.
And if anyone wants to help out they should contact the school this morning.
