Fire crews, with a little help from Mother Nature, brought a forest fire under control yesterday afternoon.
The fire, which broke out Tuesday in Upper Woods Harbour, covers less than a hectare according to Bruce Nunn of the Department of Lands and Forestry.
The wind shifted yesterday which allowed a department helicopter to drop water.
He tells Acadia News the fire is 60 per cent contained.
“There’s still Lots of hot spots for crews to work on so it is slow going. Lands and Forestry Department and volunteer fire department staff continue to work in partnership on the fire.”
Nunn says the helicopter will not be needed today.
