Bridgewater is seeking more money from the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg for the skatepark project.
The town recently awarded a contract to Propour Concrete Services Inc. for just over $517,000.
An additional $59,000 is needed for clearing and grubbing to prepare the site for concrete.
Both the contract and the work have caused the project to go over budget.
Mayor David Mitchell says they need more help from their municipal neighbours.
"The shortfall is going to be almost $200,000 at this point and the Town of Bridgewater can't bear the brunt of the entire shortfall. We can't fund $400,000 of a $645,000 project."
The municipality has already earmarked $80,000 towards the skatepark.
Mitchell says at least 50 per cent of the park's users will come from the municipality.
