While Nova Scotia’s population only increased slightly over the last five years, Bridgewater’s thrived.
The town had a 3.5 percent growth in population between 2011-2016, according to the latest census.
Mayor David Mitchell says it re-enforces that Bridgewater is a great place to live.
“We’re located close enough to Halifax that people can commute for work if they want to but enjoy a lower cost of living in Bridgewater. The other is our economy is pretty good, we have good employers with jobs available.”
The census indicates 8,532 people live in Bridgewater, up from 8,241 in 2011.
The Town of Shelburne also had population growth of 3.4%.
