This month’s recipient of a thousand dollars from the Awesome Foundation of the South Shore hopes kids will be the real winners.
Brit Vegsund was awarded the money for her plan to get students outside and moving by incorporating physical activity into other school subjects such as math and English.
It’s a model she saw being used in classes in Norway.
Part of the money will be used for her to travel to Norway to be trained.
The rest will be used for equipment in the two local schools who have agreed to pilot the program next year.
The Awesome Foundation gives away a thousand dollars each month for someone to do something awesome.
