A tentative agreement has been reached between the province and the Nova Scotia Teachers Union.
In a release from the NSTU, president Liette Doucet thanks students, teachers and parents for their patience while negotiations were underway.
She says the work-to-rule job action will be suspended and phased out starting this Monday, allowing teachers to return to their regular schedule.
The NSTU executive have reviewed the deal and are recommending it be accepted by the 9,300 teachers affected by the contract.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Karen Casey says she’s pleased the two sides have been able to reach this point.
She says it’s taken hard work from everyone involved.
The last contract between the province and NSTU expired in July of 2015.
Teachers have been under work-to-rule job action since December 5.
Details of the deal won’t be released until the contract can be ratified on February 8th.
