A Lunenburg County fire chief is reassuring residents and business owners about the department’s future.
The Wileville fire department has been temporarily closed for roughly a month due to an ongoing audit.
Joe Melanson says it was time to review administrative, financial and capital needs.
He says they have stayed the same for years – with technology and best practices evolving.
Melanson says changes will help them better serve residents.
It’s not known when the department will re-open.
However, Tri-District Fire Rescue, Hebbville Fire Department and other mutual aid partners continue to provide emergency services in Wileville.
