He’s a graduate of the first NSCC Public Relations Program, he grew up in Bridgewater and now he’s just one of only 9 Canadians in 25 years to be honoured with a prestigious award in public relations and communications.
Tim Conrad recently received the Shield of Public Service Award from the Canadian Public Relations Society for his work with the 2017 wildfires in British Columbia.
Conrad attributes much of his success to his early days at Bridgewater High School.
“I got into announcing with my teacher Mr. Matthews and after a while I got into Public Relations and the story was made,” says Conrad in an interview with Acadia News.
Conrad says to go into a disaster zone, like an area prone to wildfires, for 77 days was a very surreal experience for him.
“To go in there for months and then continue on after that with a very lengthy public consultation process, it was just a very exhausting experience but also a very rewarding experience,” adds Conrad.
Conrad recently received his award and recognition at a special ceremony in Charlottetown, PEI and has worked through numerous disasters in three provinces.
He currently calls Alberta home.
