A new shop is taking an old approach to business.
Justine and Kenton Braun are about to open the Fisherman’s Picnic General Store in Lunenburg.
It’s an alternative place to buy groceries in a downtown location with a focus on local suppliers.
Co-owner, Justine Braun says the idea was born out of inconvenience.
“We live in town and we don’t have a car so we have to walk to get groceries which is quite a ways. And we thought we’d open up a place where everyone else can do the same thing.”
Kenton Braun says they are trying to meet a demand.
“There’s no bakery in Lunenburg that has fresh baked goods. There’s no cheesery, there’s no butcher shop there’s no cider a lot of the time. So we were trying to go all local.”
The Brauns feel a general store would be a huge asset to downtown Lunenburg.
The Pelham Street shop will open its doors to the public on Monday.
