Canadian Blood Services is in the Tri-Counties holding community blood drives.

It's their first time back in the region since the holidays.

CBS relies on a small percentage of the population who are donors.

Spokesperson Peter MacDonald says they appreciate the commitment of those who give and new donors are always welcome.

He says it's important to note that they made changes in the interval for female donors based on iron levels.

"Female donors can come every 84 days versus 56 days for males. This is the first time that we're back in the Tri-County area on an 84-day interval when everyone is eligible. Hopefully your listeners will be responsive to the call."

Today, Canadian Blood Services will be in Meteghan River at Ecole Secondaire de Clare from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8.

Tomorrow and Wednesday they're at the NSCC Burridge Campus gym in Yarmouth from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 on both days.

Thursday a blood drive takes place in Barrington Passage at the Lions Club hall from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7.
