What a turn around for the Bridgewater Lumberjacks. The week started with very high hopes as Marriott’s Cove resident Larry Creaser was close to acquiring the club. A deal fell through Wednesday afternoon and it was back to the drawing board. Creaser says he’s happy to finally announce his new ownership of the Maritime Hockey League franchise. He says, “Through a lot of hard work by some of our people today and raising funds, we were able to keep the Lumberjacks on the South Shore. Very excited to get started, we have a lot of work to do and we have a lot of great volunteers that will help move us forward.” The deal also means the club will now be known as the South Shore Junior ‘A’ Lumberjacks. Current Charlie’s Pizza South Shore Mustangs Head Coach Brad Muise will take over General Manager responsibilities while Lumberjacks Head Coach Travis Young will be assistant GM. Assistant coach Wes Rand is also remaining on the coaching staff. The club will be adding another assistant coach and a goaltending consultant over the next couple of weeks. Donnie Hanhams will also be the Business Operations Manager moving forward. The Lumberjacks are on the ice at 7pm Friday night when they host the Campbellton Tigers at the Clearwater Seafoods Arena.
