A park in Western Shore has re-opened after it was damaged last month.
The Municipality of Chester is welcoming the public back to use Wild Rose Park.
It was closed in mid-March after high tide and strong wind sent hundreds of rock, seaweed and other debris onto the park’s lawn and parking lot area.
Director of Recreation and Parks, Chad Haughn, says public works staff provided clean-up while a contractor used small machinery to complete the work.
“The walkway in several areas was washed out. They were able to return the walkway to its original condition and then make repairs to the backside of the retaining wall.”
Haughn says it’s great to have the park available to the public.
“Of course, the scenery is beautiful looking out into Mahone Bay and the islands. People like to walk through and have their lunch there and there is picnic tables and benches. It’s definitely a popular park with locals and visitors alike.”
He says he still doesn’t have a finalized cost for the work, which will be covered by the municipality.
