A proposed international re-enactment and encampment in Liverpool has been cancelled.
The event was in the works for August 10-12, 2018 but will not proceed due to insufficient funding.
Hundreds of military re-enactors from across Canada and parts of the United States were expected.
Committee chairman, Owen Hamlin, says it’s disappointing.
“Nothing ventured, nothing gained. The door is open for the near future because I left council with the idea that we could come back within a year or two when, perhaps, the formula for funding might change.”
Hamlin says the group ran into road blocks trying to access provincial and federal funding but received great support from the Region of Queens.
He says they wanted all funding in place a year in advance to help American participants prepare to attend the event.
