November is Diabetes Awareness Month in the Town of Bridgewater.
The council is asking residents to framiliarize themselves with signs and making healthy lifestyle choices.
To help re-inforce their message, they also declared today World Diabetes Day.
Diabetes Canadas campaign this year focuses on prevention and early detection of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.
They're encouraging Canadians to take the CANRISK test.
In Nova Scotia 114,000 peope live with diabetes, and it contributes to 40 per cent of heart attacks, half of kidney failures and 70 per cent of all amputations.
