The growing number of emergency department closures at Roseway Hospital has triggered a new community group in Shelburne.
“Save Our Services” is urging the community to write, call or email the health minister anytime there is a closure.
Mayor Karen Mattall says the purpose of the group is to pressure the province to provide access to services.
“Make them understand that the people in rural communities deserve the same access as people in larger centres.”
Mattatall says it is unacceptable to have frequent ER closures at a hospital in rural Nova Scotia.
The group is reaching out to others in Digby and Cape Breton to help present a stronger voice to the province.
