Another year, another highlight of sustainable awareness in Bridgewater and the surrounding area. This is the sixth year for the Growing Green Festival, which opens Thursday evening with a dinner at Wiles Lake Farm Market. There will also be a street fair on a section of King Street that showcases vendors and exhibitors with sustainable initiatives or tips to become more self sufficient. Co-chair Eric Hustvedt says it’s shaping up to be another successful event. He says, “Things are going very well, a lot of people worked hard to do this. There are a few opportunities yet for a little bit of help on the day of the street festival and it’s a great event. It’s one of the few events of its kind in the country as a whole.” Opening ceremonies are scheduled for Friday night at Shipyard’s Landing. It will feature an awards presentation for people who are involved in active transportation, two short films and Fresh Air Films movie for this week.
