Lunenburg's mayor wants to know where the next generation of municipal administrators will come from.
Earlier this week, a CBC report indicated 1 in 4 provincial civil servants will be retiring by 2020.
Rachel Bailey says municipal offices are facing the same struggle.
"We have so many that are of retirement age. It's a huge turnover for all of us. It's hard to get that volume with any amount of experience to work in the field. It's a challenge," says Bailey.
Bailey says it's hard to translate skills from the non-profit or corporate world to municipal government.
She says the lack of experienced applicants will open the door for people already in more junior positions within government to step up.
