Some government services were disrupted for several hours Wednesday because of a hardware glitch.
E-mails to and from government, Access Nova Scotia services and the novascotia.ca website were affected and some payments from Community Services and the Maintenance Enforcement Program were also delayed.
A government spokesperson says the disruption was caused when a port failed on the router that links those systems.
The internal systems still worked, but they couldn’t connect to the Internet.
It took time to isolate the problem because it was intermittent, but once it was identified, it was fixed quickly.
Technicians are exploring which options and tools can be used to prevent this from happening again.
