The mayor of Shelburne says the town would always consider sharing more services with their municipal neighbours.
But she says the sometimes contenious issue of amalgamation isn’t on the table right now.
Karen Mattatall says presently the only service they share is waste diversion which is purchased from the Municipality of Shelburne.
Mattatall says that’s why the town is looking at the proposal from Bridgewater to provide policing services that would save Shelburne taxpayers about $100,000 a year.
“I think everybody knows how supportive I’ve always been of amalgamation. Interestingly, were it on the table, or had we gone that direction, we would not be having this dicussion about how to provide policing service.”
Mattatall says if a proposal ever came forward regarding a regional police service, she would be very interested.
