Nearly 300 teen soccer players from all three Maritime provinces took part in the ninth annual South Shore United Showcase Tournament.
The event attracted 19 varsity coaches from 11 regional colleges and universities to Bridgewater.
The South Shore United under-18 girls narrowly defeated Halifax rivals, Suburban FC, 2-1 in the final.

The under-18 South Shore United boys finished with two wins, a tie and a loss but didn’t reach the championship game.
“It was a tremendous success,” said South Shore United’s Trevor Sinclair, U18 Girls’ coach and key tournament organizer.
This annual event brings hundreds of visitors and a welcome mid-winter economic boost to Bridgewater.
In less than a decade, more than 40 South Shore United players have landed spots on varsity squads within and beyond the Maritimes thanks in no small measure to this showcase event that offers players an opportunity to see and be seen by coaches looking for new recruits.
South Shore United Football Club is the only high performance soccer club in Nova Scotia not to have a sporting college or university in its player base area.
