A fixture on Bridgewater’s King Street is closing its doors.
Rofihe’s Menswear has been located on the corner of Dominion for over 90 years.
Current owner Jim Rofihe’s grandfather opened the shop after immigrating from Lebanon.
Rofihe says he’s pleased to have been part of the fabric of downtown Bridgewater for so long.
But he has been feeling the pressure from online retailers and big box stores.
“It’s the time. We want to close when we’re still on top. We want to close when we can walk away with our heads held high. And now is that time.”
Rofihe says he and his family have served the community not only in their shop but as volunteers in various organizations.
“I’ve been here since forever – I was born here! But, I’ve had a good 25 years running this business and things have been going great. But, you just have to know when the time is right.”
Rofihe has begun selling through his inventory.
He says they’ll be honouring all gift cards before they close their doors sometime before the end of February.
