A Queens County business is getting provincial recognition.
The Quarterdeck Beachside Villas and Grill was recently honoured by the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia.
TIANS awarded them the Tourism Business of the Year Award which recognizes a business for their efforts in outstanding service, dedication and commitment to the industry.
Quarterdeck's General Manager Denise Burgess says a rebuilt restaurant and new buildings are attracting a new clientele.
"The new build does have a little bit different feel than the existing villas that were here. We do feel like the European market is picking up on that and the younger population.
Burgess believes their ability to innovate sets the Quarterdeck apart.
"The new build here at the Quarterdeck with the loft design, the restaurant design. Our new recreation centre, the commitment to the growing tourism and just seeing the value that tourism has for the local community and the province."
Burgess says they understand how important tourism is as an economic driver to the region.
