Tax rates are on the rise in Mahone Bay following the town’s approval of their 2017-18 budget.
Residents will pay three cents more on their tax bills after the town agreed to increase the rate to $1.19 per $100 of assessment.
Businesses will also face the same hike with a three cent increase in their tax rate to $2.98 per $100 of assessment.
Mahone Bay will have an operating budget just over $5.1-million and a capital budget over $2.6-million.
Part of the capital budget is for ongoing work at the moment on Pleasant Street.
Dexter Construction is upgrading water and wastewater pipes underground and adding a sidewalk from Pleasant to Fauxburg Road.
The two phase project will include Clairmont Street next month and will impact traffic until mid-November.
The project received matching funding from the federal and provincial governments.
