Two men have been charged after threatening police in Liverpool.

A 46 year-old man was arrested after 4 a.m Sunday at a home in Milton.

During the arrest, police were confronted by two men in their 40s who tried to enter the police car and threatened the prisoner.

The men again confronted police once they arrived back at their detachment and threatened to drive a vehicle into the building to gain access to the prisoner.

They left the scene and were later arrested.

Forty-nine year-old Kris Kelly and 45 year-old David Troy Oickle, both of Liverpool, have been charged with obstruction of justice, two counts of uttering threats and causing a disturbance.

Kelly faces additional charges of attempted break and enter and two counts of breach of probation.

Kelly will appear in court Tuesday afternoon while Oickle's case has been set over until July 12.
