56% of Canadians approve of the federal Liberal government’s performance thus far, according to a newly released poll.
The Ipsos Reid Poll, conducted on behalf of Global News notes that’s down 5 points since the end of last year.
Meanwhile, the disapproval rating climbed 5 points since the end of 2016 to 44%.
Atlantic Canadians continue to support the federal Liberals with an approval rating of 58%.
That’s in the middle of the pack with the highest approval ratings in British Columbia at 61%, and the lowest at 35% in Alberta.
Ontario and Quebec come in at 59%, with Saskatchewan and Manitoba at 47%.
In terms of age groups, 68% of 18-34 year olds approved of the Trudeau government’s performance thus far.
That number slides to 54% for people between the age of 35 to 54, and drops even further to 48% for people above the age of 55.
Ipsos Reid says if an election were held today, the results would be almost identical to 2015 with a Liberal win at 39% of decided voters, the Conservatives would tally 32% of the votes, and the NDP pulling in 20%.
The Bloc Quebecois would receive 5%, and the other parties like the Green Party trail at 4%.
13% of people polled considered themselves undecided, and 6% said they either wouldn’t vote, or would spoil their ballot.
