Lunenburg will be taking part in the world’s largest female hockey development session.
Players from across the region are invited to take to the ice at the Lunenburg Arena to work on their hockey skills as part of Hockey Canada’s World Girls Hockey Weekend.
Chair of the Western Riptides hockey program, Jamie Green hopes the event will inspire more girls to get involved.
“We’re challenged with numbers, just with the size of Nova Scotia, we’re spread out. But talent-wise, we can compete with the rest of them. So we just want to keep attracting more girls and younger girls to the game.”
The event begins with on-ice drills at Lunenburg Arena between 2:00 and 4:00pm.
Participants will then move across the parking lot to the community centre for more food and games.
