Nova Scotians are gearing up for another storm system to make its way through the province.
But, this one brings with it a mixed bag of precipitation.
Environment Canada says the low pressure system will begin as snow this morning before changing to ice pellets or freezing rain during the day.
Precipitation is then expected to change to rain for areas along the coast this afternoon.
A rainfall warning is in effect for the South Shore and Yarmouth County.
Most of Western Nova Scotia can expect around 5-15 centimetres of snow before the precipitation becomes mixed or changes over to rain.
The wind is also expected to gust up to 70 km/h.
As a result, all schools in the South Shore and Tri-County region are closed today.
NSCC campuses in Lunenburg, Shelburne and Yarmouth are also shutdown.
Environment Canada adds that falling temperatures tonight may cause a freeze up due to the combination of the weekend snow and today’s expected rain.
