A local country music legend passed away earlier this week.
Sherman ‘Little Buddy’ Hirtle died Monday at South Shore Regional Hospital.
He was 86 years-old.
Hirtle was born on Big Tancook Island and his obituary says he “always had a love of the water.”
He started playing music at a young age and met many great musicians including Johnny Cash and Hank Snow.
Hirtle was best known for his song, “My Cabbage Pickin’ Home.”
Hirtle is survived by his wife Paulette along with his three sons and daughter.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for August 6 at 3 p.m at the Mahone Bay Fire Hall.
