The competition just got tougher for the Park View football team.
In their first season last year, the team competed in a second tier division against similar sized schools.
This year, teams across the province will compete at the same level.
Coach Jamie Dearing says that puts smaller teams like his at a disadvantage.
“In the city you have 17 coaches that coach every single position, you’re going to have a better football team. It’s just numbers and population. Where you have 60 players or more to choose from. We just don’t have that here.
Dearing says while the team is talented, it’s tough to argue with the numbers.
Park View will play their first home game this season against Auburn High School at Kinsmen Field on Sunday beginning at 4:30pm.
