Another Lunenburg County school has been adopted by a national book retailer.
West Northfield Elementary School is the latest school to be chosen for Indigo’s ‘Adopt-A-School’ program.
A percentage of purchases at Cole’s in Bridgewater will go towards a book fund for the school, which they can use to buy new books for their library.
Principal Deanna Rawding says being chosen for programs like this means a lot to the school.
“That’s our community investing in our school, so our students can have access to books that are up to date and engaging for them,” she said.
“So initiatives like this are very important to us.”
Aside from purchases, donations can also be made to the fund online. the school also has a registry of books that can be bought online specifically for their library.
Rawding says this is the second time the school has been adopted for the program, and the students are always thrilled for new books.
“The kids just run to them,” she said.
“They want to read and look at the pictures. They get very excited for new books, whether they are recent books for rewrites of the classics.”
Coles will be collecting funds both in store and online until Oct. 6. Donations and the book registry can be found at www.loveofreading.org/school/1807/
