Former Bridgewater Tom Bird passed away Monday at the age of 76.
Bird served as Mayor in the 1980’s, and staff who worked with him then are remembering him fondly according to current Mayor, David Mitchell.
“‘Gentlemen,’ that’s the word I keep hearing people say. Anytime his name comes up people always have something positive to say, said Mitchell.”
Mitchell adds that the town and community of Bridgewater are deeply saddened by the news.
Among his local involvement, Bird served as President of the Bridgewater Kinsmen and K40, drove the Senior Wheels bus, co-chaired the first Relay for Life and also chaired the NS Provincial Health Council.
A celebration of life is being hosted in his memory on Friday, Dec. 20th at the Bridgewater United Church starting at 2 p.m.
