For many, the winter means staying home curled up watching some TV or reading a book but Hike Nova Scotia wants you to get out and do more this winter.
“Recent statistics from Participaction show that adults are not active enough,” says Janet Barlow, Hike NS Executive Director. “An easy way to get active is to go for a walk. It’s really as simple as that. Don’t let the cold or snow stop you. Dress properly, go with friends or family or try a guided hike.”
Included in the scheduled hikes are some upcoming dates on the South Shore. There is one in Chester one on Jan 30th, in Bridgewater on 9th and lastly in Dayspring on Valentines’ Day.
Most of the hikes over the winter require snowshoes but in the absence of snow, they typically proceed as a normal hike.
The full schedule with registration details and directions is found at www.hikenovascotia.ca. Hikes are listed by date and region (Halifax, South Shore, Valley, Fundy, Highland and Cape Breton) and include various lengths and difficulty levels.
