Lunenburg RCMP are thanking the public and local media for helping them make an arrest in connection with a theft case from January 25.
A man was recorded on video taking the wallet of someone else at the Freshmart in New Germany. On February 10 the RCMP asked for the publics’ help to identify the man. Included in their call for assistance was the video of the man in question and a physical description.
In the video, the man can be seen looking around for any witnesses before he took the wallet. The wallet was later found on a nearby street with an undisclosed amount of money missing.
On February 11 at 12:00 p.m. we aired our version of the story for the first time. Just two hours later RCMP received a call from the suspect who expressed his desire to turn himself.
The man who was not identified then turned himself into the Cookville Detachment where he was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. He is set to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court at an unspecified date.
