Over 90 residents were evacuated from a seniors complex in Bridgewater due to a fire yesterday.
Around noon, the Bridgewater Fire Department were called to Drumlin Hills senior complex for a smoke call from the building’s fifth floor.
When they arrived smoke was visible from outside the senior living facility on Glen Allen Dr.
The scene was relatively calm with many residents gathered out front on lawn chairs watching the situation as fire fighters from eight departments ran ladders and hoses to the top floor and cut through a section of the building’s roof.
While one paramedic at the scene said it couldn’t have happened on a better day due to warm temperatures, residents were brought to the Bridgewater Baptist Church to keep warm and safe as the situation continued.
At this time, no cause for the fire was given, but residents on scene said they suspected it began in the attic space of the building.
It is unclear how many residents were affected or if residents were able to return home.
