Anyone who has been to a grocery store lately knows hand sanitizer is hard to come by, Ironworks Distillery noticed this too and decided to do something about it.
Earlier this week they posted on their Facebook page that they were now producing and selling their own hand sanitizer called “OH My”.
Co-Owner Lynn Mackay says that making sanitizer was never her desire but given the situation, she had no choice “We don’t want to be making sanitizer, that was never the plan. We just saw that our community was in need and we were in a position to do something.”
The process of switching from spirits to a sanitizer was an easy one according to Mackay who says it required minor tweaking but the main ingredients and equipment were already in place.
The product is 65 percent ethyl alcohol making it an effective sanitizer but MacKay notes that it should not replace good hand washing practices.
“OH My “will be available for purchase at the Lunenburg Farmers Market with profits going towards Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital.
