Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Bridgewater is finding new ways to pass along important information.
The town recently posted a Facebook video shedding a light on the issue of abandoned shopping carts. The video is a parody of Law & Order, in which Bridgewater Communication Officer, Pat Hirtle and his partner (son) Thatcher Hirtle explain why it’s important to return shopping carts.
Mayor David Mitchell says it’s important to send out information in a way that people are most likely to see it.
“A lot of people don’t want to read every one of our releases, so we hope videos like these will result in more people hearing our messages,” Mitchell said.
The video seems to have worked, with it being one of the most shared posts on Bridgewater’s Facebook page from last week.
The town has found itself communicating with its residents more often as a result of frequent changes to government health mandates.
“I think we are doing relatively well with communicating to our residents, I can see the numbers on our posts so I know that people are seeing our messages,” the Mayor said.
The town still sends out traditional written updates but the initial success means we may see more PSA style messages from Bridgewater in the future.
