The Department of Lands and Forests says Lifeguards have received the necessary training to man Nova Scotia’s beaches as of July 1.
Paul D’Eon, director of the Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service says the training was necessary for the safety of guards and beachgoers, “New safety measures are in place this summer to ensure lifeguards are working in the safest way possible during the pandemic. It’s a high-risk activity so lifeguards are equipped with extra training and equipment so they can work safely to meet their goal of keeping Nova Scotians safe. We encourage all Nova Scotians to continue to follow public health measures, like social distancing, while at the beach this summer.”
Lifeguards will patrol 23 beaches in 12 counties over the summer from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This will be the 49th consecutive summer that Nova Scotia’s most popular beaches will be protected by lifeguards from the Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service.
The guards are contracted to work on Nova Scotia’s beaches until the end of August.
