The first NSLC Cannabis location to open since the initial rollout opened its doors in Liverpool this week.
It is the first of thirteen new modular stores that will open in the next year.
Communications manager for the NSLC Beverly Ware says the new stores will be built in the current spaces of brick and mortar NSLC locations. The modular locations will still comply with federal regulations that require cannabis products to be out of sight from the main store.
The first wave of NSLC Cannabis locations targeted major population hubs across the province but Ware says these stores are different, “The new locations aim to serve smaller communities that may not have been serviced by the Signature locations.”
The Liverpool location opened its doors on Monday after existing staff members completed the necessary training to sell cannabis.
The next wave of locations will open in November in Baddeck, Glace Bay, Port Hawkesbury, and Tatamagouche. In April they plan to open locations in Barrington and Annapolis.
The last stores in the project will open in April in Berwick, Sydney Mines, and Mahone Bay.
Additionally, the NSLC is building a new Signature location in Tantallon.
