The Lunenburg Yacht Club is excited to have hit its target of 35 sailboats for the inaugural Welcome Back Regatta.
The regatta, in partnership with Anderssen Wealth Management TD, gets underway today and runs until Sunday, August 23.
With sailors attending from across the Maritimes, the Welcome Back Regatta will be Nova Scotia’s largest keelboat event this summer.
But the event — from racing to prizes — wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our community who have stepped up according to the club.
Michael Anderssen, of Anderssen Wealth Management TD, said he was pleased to help as the event’s official partner. “I jumped at the opportunity to be able to support the Club,” he said.
“Considering the state of the world, I’m really happy the Club took up the challenge and worked to make this event happen. It shows the strength of our local sailing community.”
“From Anderssen Wealth Management TD onward, we are thrilled by the overwhelming support from our event partner and numerous suppliers, as well as the uptake from sailors,” said Jennifer Hall, LYC Welcome Back Regatta Chair.
The Club, she said, saw the event as an opportunity to get sailors back on the water and has been humbled by the community’s response.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back for the sailing event of the summer,” said Hall.
