The latest candidate to join the running for Bridgewater Town Council is a former award-winning journalist.
Stacey Colwell is now retired but his career of covering local issues around the South Shore has provided him with valuable experience, “I believe my extensive experience writing about the town has given me insight into the way our municipal government functions as well as a thorough understanding of the local issues facing the council,” ” he says.
“I’m asking voters for an opportunity to serve as a counselor who will be responsive and listen to the concerns of constituents, make informed and thoughtful decisions, be fiscally responsible with taxpayer money, and always put the interests of the town my top priority,” said the 51-year-old former Bridgewater Bulletin reporter whose professional honours included two prestigious Atlantic Journalism Awards.
His platform has yet to be announced and he says that will come as the election draws nearer. In the meantime, he says he wants to speak with the community and find out what issues are important to them and he says he is approaching council without a personal agenda.
Now a proud stay-at-home Dad with two teenaged children, he’s coached youth sports teams and been a school advisory council member, while also volunteering with other community groups such as the United Way and town committees.
