Building occupancy limits are temporarily lower due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that has forced many customers to wait outside while they wait to be served and businesses are beginning to deal with this problem.
A few businesses around the Bridgewater area have installed outdoor protected spaces to shield their customers from the elements.
One of those is the Bridgewater Animal Hospital who are in the midst of building an awning on the front of their building.
Veterinarian Dr. Barry Falkenham says when the pandemic first hit they needed some time to make preparations to operate amidst the pandemic.
“People have had to wait outside while they wait for service and the new construction was our idea to ensure that people and their pets can be comfortable while they wait to be seen,” Falkenham said.
Most businesses have taken steps to deal with COVID-19 like installing plexiglass barriers but it’s possible as winter draws nearer more companies will move towards constructing some type of protective structure for their clientele.
Fresh Cuts Market was another early adopter of protective structures and customers have enjoyed the use of their metal tent-like structure that now sits in their parking lot.
