Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador have decided they need more time to themselves. It’s not that they want to be able to see other provinces. They just want to be by themselves.
Who can blame them?
Since the first part of July, the Atlantic Bubble worked quite well. Then, things started to go a bit sideways. Covid started sneaking in a bit via those who had travelled outside and came back. Pretty much to be expected, but we were set up to handle that, right? The self isolation rules and contact tracing would keep such cases to themselves.
Except it seems some people couldn’t follow the rules. Or weren’t quite clear on how the rules should work. Or found loopholes. Or… it doesn’t matter. We have started getting a few cases again.
This disease is tricky. It can hitch a ride with some people who never know it’s there. Others, it will attack without mercy. And it doesn’t care whether or not you believe in it.
It’s time to remember what we were doing in the spring. Wear masks, keep your distance, wash your hands or sanitize pretty much constantly and don’t take chances. It’s not only about you. It’s about everyone around you, too.
We’re only a few months away from having a vaccine available to bring this thing to it’s knees. The trick is to avoid catching it until that happens.
And it would be nice to get that bubble back before long.
